Default Who has HD Tv ?

I have Sony HD TV. But since we don’t have any HD transmission in Sri Lanka it’s not that useful. One other disadvantage is that the SD picture quality over HD big screen is bad. Still our local TV stations transmitting their pictures in very low resolution.. You will not notice this in 21 inch TV; but if you have 40 inch screen TV then you will see the difference. Its really really bad. We should start high resolution transmission as soon as possible. Few months ago I heard that dialog TV started DVB-T transmissions. But still no one using that platform?

As far as I know Dialog TV is the only company has the technology to broadcast HD TV although it still in testing period.

as follows,

Dialog TV to venture into HDTV

Dialog TV, Sri Lanka's fast growing pay television company has planned to venture into HDTV and could become the first in this region to do so. This will add to the regional firsts already scored by Dialog GSM.

According to an interview in "The Nation" newspaper it has been revealed that the pilot HDTV project is underway and the result would be announced in four weeks time. In addition it has been revealed that Dialog TV will be expanding their present portfolio of channels since they have already acquired another two transponders from IS-12 bringing them to a total of four transponders. These two additional transponders will enable them to add more channels to the platform as well as to increase the picture quality of their present channels. Just recently Dialog TV added "Al Jazeera English" to their lineup of channels.
